New Trustees wanted

Supporting Argyll and Isles heritage

New Trustees wanted
Happy New Year to all in the Argyll and Bute Museums and Heritage Forum.

ABMHF are seeking new Trustees

Happy New Year to you all, and we hope you had a lovely festive season, and are looking forward to 2026 in whatever part of our heritage sector you are in.

We come to you with a plea for help.

Are you passionate about the heritage of Argyll and Bute?
Could you spare a few hours a month helping to build the capacity and activities of your Forum?

The Argyll & Bute Museums & Heritage Forum (ABMHF) is in urgent need of more Trustees.
The Forum is a Scottish charity (SCIO-SC050209) dedicated to supporting people, places, and organisations involved in heritage across the Argyll and Bute area. This email is going out to over 110 individuals and organisations. There are still more potential members across the area who have not yet joined.

We are seeking new volunteer directors to help us shape the future of the Forum and improve our on going activities. Your skills, experience and enthusiasm would be invaluable as we continue to support and promote the rich heritage of Argyll & Bute and take advantage of funding on offer.

We need responsible people with some experience and interest in any part of Argyll and Bute museums and heritage who can volunteer a few hours each month. We welcome offers from the professional or voluntary sector, all your current Trustees hold volunteer positions in their heritage interest.

Membership of ABMHF is open to all individuals and organisations interested in heritage and museums in the county. The Forum started out to help small, independent museums achieve accreditation, but over time, our focus has expanded to support the entire heritage sector. This includes volunteers, community groups, businesses, and everyone interested in our region’s history. From ancient times to the present day, we are here to celebrate the people, places, islands, and everything that makes our heritage unique.

Why join us as a Trustee?

  • Make a difference: Help us develop exciting new projects and initiatives.

  • Gain valuable experience: Develop your leadership and governance skills.

  • Meet like-minded people: Connect with other heritage enthusiasts.

  • Flexible commitment: Our meetings are primarily online, so location is not a barrier.

We are currently seeking:

  • Volunteer Directors to help guide the Forum’s strategic direction.

  • Some things we would like to do which build on recent projects..

    • Access funding and manage projects.

    • Create the capacity to run events and activities.

    • Develop our website content

    • Host a hybrid conference.

    • Host monthly online networking events for members to come together informally, and learn together; to support each other, build our knowledge of our sector and increase our membership.

    • Host more training events as we have in the past - what sort of training depends on our membership, but it has been popular in the past.

Please Contact us by email abmhforum@gmail.com with any expressions of interest or to ask us any questions. We are happy to chat if you need to know more. Please include your phone number and we can call you back.
