Archaeology in Glencoe

Over recent years Glasgow University and National Trust of Scotland have been working in Glencoe glen on various sites bringing to the surface some very interesting finds from the townships, particularly from the 1600s.
They welcome community members to join in, going back in the field in the summer of 2025 for another season of excavations, surveys and creative practices. You can get involved with the digs, or attend public events like the Glencoe Archaeology Festival in July where they show their finds, share stories and lead tours of the dig sites. Find out more on their Glencoe project page
One of our members - Lorn Archaeological and Historical Society - have a talk on March 8th 2025 - ‘A roof o’er their heads’: the archaeology of the Glencoe townships with Derek Alexander, Head of Archaeological Services, National Trust for Scotland.
All their talks are open to the public for a small donation.
