Campbeltown Museum celebrates the social history of Campbeltown through a wide range of local fishing and boating items and tells the wider story of Kintyre through its collection of archaeology, art, and natural sciences. Highlights currently on display include a Bronze Age jet necklace, Samuel Peploe and William McTaggart paintings, and a Mull of Kintyre lighthouse reflector. Historic graveyard
We are a registered charity dedicated to preserving the historic structures that form "Kilbride," in Lerags Glen Oban Scotland. The site has close associations with Clan MacDougall and the history of Scotland. A past too rich to have no future.
Museum
One of the key attractions in Argyll and Bute on Scotland’s west coast,
Kilmartin Museum re-opened in September 2023 following a period of vital

A custodian of the artefacts that come from Kilmartin Glen, one of
Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes, the Museum houses a

Community Heritage Society
Lorn Archaeological and Historical Society is a membership community organisation formed in 1963 by local heritage enthusiasts. LAHS has continued for over 60 years bringing together those in the Oban and Lorn area who want to learn more, with interesting winter lectures, summer visits, workshops and, in the past, some serious archaeological activities. We hope to bring more field archaeology back to the Oban area with the help of Archaeology Scotland and our new Patron - Professor Tony Pollard, who started his archaeology journey with LAHS in Oban. We have recently digitised our whole 60 year archive of publications and added to our website.

From Spring to October, we organise walks, outings around Mull and occasional visits to the mainland. From October until November, all our events are indoors with
talks and lectures. We hold social evenings and fund- raising events, such as the annual October Mackichan Lecture to raise funds for the Catherine Mackichan Trust which provides bursaries for people undertaking historical or
archaeological projects. In November, we have a Joint Meeting with the Friends of Mull Museum. We take it in turn to organise the venue, speaker and a two-course supper. There is no meeting in December.

Museum and craft shop
Strachur Smiddy dates back to at least 1791, and continued as a working Smiddy until 1955. It has since been restored to its original state and now acts as a working museum, with the local blacksmith demonstrating the craft and letting visitors have a go on the giant bellows.
