It seeks to maximise the benefits of \nstimulating and satisfying curiosity about a local community in order to\n bridge the gap between visitor and visited, we have created an archive \nof our Local Heritage and produced exhibitions on local matters which \nare displayed in our centre.  All information displayed and archived has\n been provide by members of the community.<br>\nHere We Are is involved in many initiatives within the  community.  We \nhave created two renewable energy companies ( The Merk &#8211; Hydro Power and\n Our Power &#8211; Biomass Fuel). \u201cWhat\u2019s in the Loch\u201d  is an aquarium show \ncasing the sea creatures living at the head of Loch Fyne. The oldest item dates back c.12,000 years, others come from the Bronze and Iron Ages, and then up to the present century. The library holds over 1600 volumes and there is a collection of several thousand digitised photographs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<span style=\"background-color:#acc9e0;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iona-cathedral.org.uk\/abbey-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Iona Abbey Heritage Library<br><\/a><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iona-cathedral.org.uk\/abbey-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Specialist library collection<\/a><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iona-cathedral.org.uk\/abbey-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>The Iona Abbey Heritage Library is located in Iona Abbey, above the Chapter House in the Cloisters. The library houses many books of great \nhistorical interest and significance, including numerous copies of the \nBook of Kells and a robust Gaelic section, as well as many books pertaining to the heritage of the island. We hold social evenings and fund- raising events, such as the annual October <i>Mackichan Lecture<\/i> to raise funds for the Catherine Mackichan Trust which provides bursaries for people undertaking historical or \narchaeological projects. In November, we have a Joint Meeting with the <i>Friends of Mull Museum<\/i>. We take it in turn to organise the venue, speaker and a two-course supper.
