2026 Heritage Cafes

You are invited to our first 2026 Online Heritage Cafe Wednesday 29th April at 2 pm.Please let us know if you would like to attend. You are very welcome to share this invitation with your colleagues, volunteers, fellow heritage enthusiasts. Argyll & Bute Museums and Heritage Forum is excited to announce the first of 12 monthly online networking Heritage Cafes to offer a space for volunteers, professionals, businesses, and members of our community to come together, share their news, tell us of your events, ask for help and listen to each other. Thanks to Museums Galleries Scotland we have secured funding for our Cafe Coordinator, the wonderful storyteller Gauri Raji, who will be bringing us interesting people each month as well. Check out our website for future events and topics. If you would like to be one of our speakers please get in touch. We apologise for the short notice for this first event - we are aware of some very exciting events and things happening in our heritage world so would urge you to come along and share your news. This first Heritage Cafe will also delve into oral folklore, specifically place-based folklore as a form of historical memory. Argyll is rich in oral folklore where in places carry stories in their names, at the very start. How do we look at oral folklore as a form of historical memory?

Dougie Strang, our guest at this first heritage cafe, is the author of the acclaimed book ‘The Bone Cave’, refer personal journey intertwines with mythological and folklore of places through Argyll & the Highlands.Do come to what promises to be a fascinating and thought-provoking conversation. Dougie may even bring a story or two!
